GELATO means ice in Italtian. The side view of the sofa can look like the shape of a soft ice. Soft and comfortable. Thick seat, but light and airy just the same, floating over light cast molded legs. Olav Eldøy is one of Scandinavia's leading designers, mostly known for good esthetic characteristic furniture. GELATO attend to the the rigid demand to function, comfort and system. One leg, one right module and a corner module give the user many variation possibilities in furnishing. Lilla Åland is a real stalwart in the Stolab range and a favourite that has represented excellent Swedish 20th century design on many occasions. Carl Malmsten was inspired by a visit to the Finnström Church on Åland, which contained a number of stick-back chairs lined up. He drew them and after a few of his own adjustments and additions, typical of his own particular style, serial production could commence. Each back pin is grooved at both ends, providing a larger attachment area for the glue, thus increasing durability. The narrowing of the back pins upwards forms a strong, springy and comfortable back support. The hollowed top section further increases comfort. Recessed seat for greater comfort. When Jonas Lindvall created Harrow it was in homage to the tradition of craftsmanship and thus to Stolab. Harrow has a broad backrest made of conical sections that become narrower towards the back legs. This gives Harrow a finished and neat appearance. Ibbi is a lounge chair with a lot of character and is a beautiful example of what opportunities wood presents. The chair is made of birch and has two main parts, the ends and the laths. The ends are two reversed copies of each other and the laths create the seat and back. The chair has a soft form that encompasses the body so that it feels encompassing, safe and inviting. Carl Malmsten did not design Lilla Åland just as a chair and armchair. In 1941 he also designed a rocking chair with largely the same components as the armchair. Now Stolab is relaunching this rocking chair, which was produced on the basis of new drawings, in turn based on Carl Malmsten’s original drawings, made by Leif Burman. The rocking chair is stable, neat and easy to place and several can be favourably used at a table together. Centre pivots in runners and seat provide increased durability. Developing a chair is one of the hardest tasks a furniture designer can face, not only because of the need for excellent seating comfort but also because of the fact that the chair must be able to fit in many different environments, feel unique and be able to stand out while still feeling like a permanent fitting. It was not easy, and it required a total of 32 sketches and four prototypes to find its way into production. CJ3 offers excellent comfort in a variety of seating positions. You can sit "straight ahead," and the chair provides excellent lumbar support. It is designed to provide support and comfort while sitting at other angles as well. The dorsal angle is designed so that your neck will always feel comfortable and relaxed. The horsehair padding and flax gives firmness in the seat and back that enables you to sit for a long period of time in the armchair. The quality of the materials ensures that the high level of comfort will not deteriorate over the years.

In Karlsö, Mattias Ljunggren has given a modern interpretation of the classic Windsor-style chair. The edge of the seat is very thin in order to give a feeling of lightness. The seat’s front and back edges have a neat rounding that originates in the comfortable radius of the back. The Serena bench is a new member of Stolab's Serena family, designed by Marit Stigsdotter in an idiom familiar from other furniture in the series. With a sheepskin seat, the bench is soft and warm to sit on. The drawers, with fully extendable and air-damped runners, offer convenient storage. The Serena bench is equally suitable at the foot of the bed as in the hall, and is available in two sizes, with two or three drawers. If you choose to have it unupholstered, it can be used as storage furniture for any room. One tip is to use the top as a stand for the TV, for example. If you later want to convert it into a bench to sit on, you can buy and fi t a cushion in sheepskin, black leather or cloth.

The Code 27 sofa system has adaptability built into the design concept. Code 27 adapts simply, making its presence subtly felt in the room where it stands and among the people who use it. The system is infinitely extendable – from small to large and even bigger still. We created a code based on 27 cm modules and made a visual divide down the middle of the seat cushions, so they are all reversible and can be used in the same way. No top or bottom, no right or wrong. It’s up to you how to combine the scatter cushions – small, medium or large, with the joins lined up or not. It became a coded alphabet, a system of A, B, C + 27.

The result is a common chair in an unusual way. The seat and backrest of the Sting Armchair is made of aluminium that is extruded in lengths up to 60 metres long. The lengths are later sliced into pieces and anodised; becoming seats and backs of chairs. As far as we know, in 2003 when we presented Sting, it was the first chair on the market where this technique was used. The seat and the backrest section are jointed together almost invisibly. The Serena bench is a new member of Stolab's Serena family, designed by Marit Stigsdotter in an idiom familiar from other furniture in the series. With a sheepskin seat, the bench is soft and warm to sit on. The drawers, with fully extendable and air-damped runners, offer convenient storage. The Serena bench is equally suitable at the foot of the bed as in the hall, and is available in two sizes, with two or three drawers. If you choose to have it unupholstered, it can be used as storage furniture for any room. One tip is to use the top as a stand for the TV, for example.
